Aug 1st, 2022 Legion Membership Meeting
7:00pm: The monthly meeting was called to order by Commander Hamburgur with 27 members present. The Pledge of Allegiance, placing of the POW-MIA Flag on the empty chair and the Preamble of the American Legion Conducted.
Guest Charlie Herchen the coach of our 16-youth baseball team presented the Post with the trophy they won for taking first in the State tournament, Rich Padron also thanked all that helped with the tournament out at Washington Park. Transfer in member Leanne Anthon was introduced.
Roll Call of Officers: All present and or accounted for.
Minutes from the July meeting were read and placed on file.
Minutes from the July Board meeting read and placed on file.
Finance Officer Herbert reported total assets at $73,143.93. The itemized report is attached to these minutes.
Sick Call: Chaplin Genz sent get well card to Mike Coughlin
Firing Squad/Color Guard report: Steve Gillis reported total assets of $10,732.47. Report attached to these minutes.
Bar/House report: Kirk Grill reports assets at $2,076.94. Report attached to these minutes.
Membership: Kristie reported that we are at 13.7% as we start the 2023 membership year, they have the membership cards and will be sending out soon.
Service Officer: Bob reported that they continue to work on passing the PAC Act in Washington.
Old Business: Steve Zillmer brought forward the revised Constitution and By-Laws, he went over the major changes and additions the plan is to bring it up at the September meeting for a vote, Kirk will send it out via email to all that have email and we’ll mail to those who don’t so all can see both documents. Steve thanked all that helped with the revisions. While at the
State convention he did have the State Judge Advocate look over the documents and he said they both look good to go.
Kirk said he has the baseball raffle tickets for next year ready to hand out to members to sell, there are a couple packets on the back bar if you just want to buy a ticket while at the Post on Tuesday or Thursday, contact Kirk if you want a pack of 10 to sell.
New Member: Leanne Anthon US Navy a transfer from the State was voted in as a member of the Post and then sworn in, Welcome to the Post Leanne.
New Business: The executive board made a motion to nominate Rich Padron as our Legionnaire of the Year, it was voted on and passed, Congrats Rich.
Our Post is hosting the Jefferson County meeting on Aug 18th at 6:30pm please stop down and show your support.
Roger reminded everyone that the National Convention is Aug 25th-Sep1st in Milwaukee see him if you want to go.
We will be selling tickets at Riverfest on Sunday Aug 14th 11am-3pm contact Roger if you can help.
Reminder that our September meeting will be on the 12th due to Labor Day being the first Monday of the month.
On Sat Aug 13th the VFW will have a brat fry at Piggly Wiggly 10:30am to 2:30pm come down and support a fellow veteran’s group.
Communications: A thank you card from Josh Mitchell for our donation to his Eagle project.
Good of the Legion: Larry Schultz reminded everyone to look at their $1 bills and see if there’s an A,L,F for American Legion Family and donate those to the Post. He also has free T-shirts from when the Vietnam moving wall was in town, see Larry if you want one.
